Apply to attend the Symposium by 15 August 2024. To register, please fill out the form.
Join us at Quantum Talents Symposium Munich – an Innovation Hub where talent meets opportunities.
The symposium is jointly organized by several organizations of the Munich quantum ecosystem:
- Munich Quantum Valley (MQV),
- Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST),
- International Max Planck Research School for Quantum Science and Technology (IMPRS-QST),
- Women in Quantum Optics Postdoctoral Program (WiQO) of the Max Plank Institute of Quantum Optics.
The event is designed as a platform for showcasing groundbreaking research in quantum science and for scientific exchange among talented early-career quantum researchers. Each symposium has a different theme, and this year our focus is quantum computing.
Our mission is to facilitate knowledge sharing, inspire collaboration, and promote career opportunities in quantum science, with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
Focus Theme:
This year's symposium will focus on quantum computing. Applications research should discuss the development, operation and / or applications of quantum computers. Applications should be relevant to the focus theme to have a chance of success in receiving an invitation to attend as a finalist.
Call for Applications:
We invite applications from outstanding and driven early-career researchers who work in the field of quantum computing. Specifically, we invite:
- PhD students in their 3rd year and above,
- Postdocs with up to two years of experience.
Applicants must demonstrate their contribution to the field with at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal (physics, chemistry, mathematics) OR published contributions in top-tier conferences with full papers in the field (computer science, engineering).
Selection Criteria for Finalists:
Selected applicants will be invited to give a talk at the symposium and will receive support for their travel costs. Our selection process prioritizes academic excellence and exceptional research potential. Finalists will be selected on three key criteria: scientific excellence, scientific vision, and our commitment to diversity in quantum research.
All other applicants will be invited to attend as a participant, at their own arrangement and expense, and given the opportunity to present a poster.
About the Symposium:
- Duration: two days
- Ten symposium finalists' presentations
- Talks from invited speakers
- Organized lab tours and group visits in Munich's leading quantum groups at LMU, TUM, and MPQ
- Awards: the top finalists' presentations will be awarded monetary prizes
- Certificate of attendance as a finalist
- Poster Session with prize opportunity
- Conference Dinner
Attending as a Participant:
Interested members of the quantum community, including MQV, MCQST and IMPRS, are invited to attend the Symposium!
Registration is required for organizational purposes, and this will be available at a later date. Note that participants who are not finalists should cover their own travel arrangements and expenses.
All participants will be welcomed and encouraged to present a poster. The poster session will take place on 25 November. You will be able to mark this option and fill out the information on your poster contribution directly on the registration form for participants.
