Description

Towards applications of quantum computing

Quantum computing promises to be disruptive in many industrial and academic fields. However, despite significant research progress in recent years, a practical quantum advantage has not yet been realized and further breakthrough innovations in quantum hardware, software and algorithms are necessary. This 1.5 day symposium aims to reflect on this with a focus on applications: What are the main challenges and shortcomings that need to be overcome to realize a practical quantum advantage for industrial and academic challenges, and how can collaboration between both sides be strengthened?

This symposium, organized by Munich Quantum Valley and supported by QUTAC and Bayern Innovativ, will bring together academia and industry working on applications of quantum computing with hardware and software developers. Researchers and companies from the Bavarian quantum ecosystem will be joined by internationally leading experts to assess the current state of the art and identify the most promising near-term applications.

The symposium will consist of a series of talks and discussions by the following speakers:

  • Sebastian Blatt (Planqc)
  • Martin Braun and Tanja Döhler (DATEV)
  • Ines de la Vega (IQM)
  • Henrik Dreyer (Quantinuum)
  • Pierre-Emmanuel Emeriau (Quandela)
